Microsoft digital image suite anniversary edition
Tested with Picture It! 7 / 9 / 10 and Digital Image Suite 2006
- Close all open programs and documents and prepare to install DIS or PI
- Start setup from your original disk
Normally you are prompted by User Account Control to give permission, authorize it.
- Choose the few options available and go on
- At some point you will be presented with the usual little error window:
- Click OK
- Next you will be presented with the second usual error window:
- Don't click OK now, instead sign out the user
The logoff operation can't be carried out because of that window waiting for intervention.
- Wait a few seconds and then click on Cancel, you are returned where you left
- NOW click OK
The installation will end without errors!
More for who want to use the Library
The Library exists only in PI 10 and in DIS and may not work:
you launch it but it does not open.
This typically happens on a fresh clean install of Windows 10 1709 both 32 and 64 bit.
Luckily, the fix is very simple, just add an entry (or two) in the Windows registry.
Download and open the file corresponding to your Windows version, authorize its execution, you will be prompted for confirmation two or three times.
For Windows 32 bit: SharedFilesDir 32bit.reg
For Windows 64 bit: SharedFilesDir 64bit.reg
After that the Library will work without having to do anything anymore.
Important note for owner of Windows 10 1709 32 bit
From my checks, the installation of PI or DIS on Windows 10 1709 32 bit is successful, but it also installs IE6 and this is definitely a bad thing considering that we are now at IE11 and in no way two versions of IE should coexist.

I have spent MONTHS looking for a way to reinstall Microsoft Photo Premium 10 and this WORKED! You are a genius. Who would have ever known to STOP at the second error message and logoff and then cancel. Absolutely amazing solution and thank you so much.

EliminaThere are various ways to logoff, those are the more common:
- Open the Start Menu, click the user icon and choose "Sign out"
- Open the Quick Access Menu by hitting Windows + X, point at "Shut down or sign out" and then choose "Sign out"

I recently uninstalled MS Picture It! 2000 on my Dell Inspiron 660, 64-bit OS, x64-based processor with Wins 10 Pro because it started "non responding" a lot. Now when I install the disc and run "AUTORUN.EXE", it starts the "Setup" and the says to "restart" my PC. I click on "Yes" and the PC restarts and has a "PI" short cut icon on the desktop. I click on that and I get a window saying "Access is denied". I click on "OK" and get a window saying "PI" cannot start and needs 30 mb of space. I click "OK" and get another window saying "Shockwave (SW) not installed. I click on "Yes" to download the latest version os SW and a blank page comes up in Google Chrome. Do you have any suggestions on doing something else. PI has been running great since for the last 4 years until a few months ago. Thanks. Tom Larkin Tucson, AZ

EliminaI have Picture It 2000 running on W7 64, but if I choose "Save As", the program crashes. Otherwise, it installs and runs fine.
EliminaI have seen this with other programs and was solved by removing some offending locations from File Explorer Favorites.

I've installed successfully both this AND 'photo premium 10' (as an alternate), both work(ed) fine FOR A WHILE and now....BOTH maddeningly keep freezing/crashing, necessitating task manager to exit. Have uninstalled both and am absolutely INSANELY furious with microsoft for routinely screwing their PAYING customers by doing away with perfectly-viable products and/or making them literally IMPOSSIBLY incompatible with updated OS platforms.

I started installing with disc but didn’t get any error messages; instead, it would just install to about halfway and stay there, stuck. So at that point, I shut down the computer/signed out (with disc still in). When I turned it back on, the complete program was installed with icon on the desktop! YAY!!!

EliminaHallo dass liegt daran dass der Internet Explorer nicht auf windows 10 usw. installiert werden kann. Die einfachste möglichkeit den Fehler zu beheben ist die .msi datei zu bearbeiten dass der Internet explorer nicht mehr installiert wird.
RispondiElimina1: Ordner an beliebigen Ort erstellen
2: Inhalt von CD1 komplett in Ordner von Schritt 1 kopieren
3: CD2 öffnen und den inhalt des Ordners \PIP\PI7 in die jeweiligen Unterverzeichnisse von Schritt 1 kopieren (Damit die Installationsdaten vollständig vorhanden sind)
4: Tool SuperOrca (.msi Editor) downloaden und installieren SuperOrca - Download
5: Öffnet die Datei PI7.msi oder PI.msi jenach Version im ordner von schritt 1 \PIP\PI7.msi mit SuperOrca
6: navigiert links zu installexecuteSequence
7: markiert die beiden zeilen "Install_Internet_Explorer*" und SetIE_Installed" macht Rechtsklick und Drop Rows
8: dann oben auf Tools klicken und dort Rebuild MSI File klicken
9: zukünftig dass setup einfach vom Ordner Schritt 1\PIP\__pi7.msi starten
Empfehlung: Sichert euch am besten den Ornder für zukünftige Installationen.
Bei mir funktioniert dass Setup und dass Programm seitdem Problemlos.

RispondiEliminaI set Windows 10 to Windows 7 compatibility for Picture It 2000 and it works fine like butter. No problems whatsoever on a brand new 2021 Vaio Z with i7 cpu. Any other compatibility setting like Windows XP will not work.

RispondiEliminaI've make a SFX ie6setup.exe which run a bat that kill the msiexec process which wait IE6 sub install allowing straightforward installation.
bat inside sfx exe simply run : wmic process where "Name='msiexec.exe' and CommandLine Like '%Embedding%' AND Not CommandLine Like '% C%'" Call Terminate
link to SFX ie6setup.exe (you can open it with 7-Zip / WinRAR to verify BAT inside)
